Inserting images into Cricut and Silhouette Studios
Scroll down for the Silhouette Studios tutoial.
Note: This has only been tested using windows 10.
For inserting our images (pngs) into Cricut design space
- Open the Cricut Design Space application. Then under "My Projects" click New Project.
- Once a new project has opened up, locate the upload button that is on the left side of the screen. Once you click it, a new screen will pop up with a upload image and a pattern fill button.
- Click upload image and drag and drop one image into the application or browse your device and find the image you wish to upload, click on it, then click okay.
- Once the image shows up, you are given three different options: a simple, a moderately complex, and a complex. For our designs the simple will suffice. Once you click continue another page will pop up. Don't worry about this page, as everything has been taken care of for you, so, go ahead and click continue again.
- Now another page will pop up showing the full image on the left and a gray outline on the right. For a print and cut image you are going to want to select the one on the left. If you want your Cricut to simply cut out the image's shape then click the one on the right.
- Once you have decided which to choose, you can now locate the panel on the right of the page. From there you can name the image and give it different tags to help make finding it easier later on. Once that is done, all you have to do is hit save!
- To find the image later all you have to do is click on the same upload button on the left side again. From there if you scroll down a bit you will see all the images you have uploaded to Cricut. Click "View All" if you don't see it right away.

For inserting our images (pngs) into Silhouette Studios
- Open the Silhouette Studios application (Note: This tutorial is made for the newest version of the Silhouette Studios application and has only been tested on Release 4.4.259ss)
- A new project should show up automatically, otherwise click on the DESIGN tab to look at your projects.
- Once you have a new project: You may now drag in your image into your project or you can click on the "File" button that is on the upper left corner. Then click "Open... " then locate the image, click on it, then click okay.
- Once the image is inserted into your project there really isn't much more to do! If you would like to add the image to your library so you can find it later, follow these steps: Make sure your image is highlighted. Then at the upper left corner click "File" then locate and hover over "Save As >" and click the "Save to Library..." button. A screen will pop up and from here you can name it and sort it into a folder. Once you have done that just click okay, and done! You will now find it in your library when you are ready to create!
